Cadence Leads IC Design Training Effort in Brazil
As part of a major program to create a robust electronics industry in Brazil,
the Brazilian Government, the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology,
and Cadence Design Systems have joined in a very ambitious partnership to
provide state-of-the-art, university-level semiconductor design courses.
The first of these will be available to 1500 aspiring IC designers in the Sao
Paulo area of Brazil. Over the next two years, Cadence will be directing and
offering courses in all aspects of analog and digital IC design, using Cadence
technology along with a wealth of Cadence and industry IC design knowledge.
Cadence has received a very warm response from the Brazilian government for
providing the necessary resources for helping them move into 21st century
technology. In return, the Brazilian government has provided Cadence with
superb facilities and accommodations for its instructors and support personnel.
Currently we are entering the second phase of this project, which is greater in scope than the previous phase. Some of the positions will be staffed by Cadence personnel, but there are many opportunities for expert consultants who have both an industry background in analog or digital IC design, university level teaching experience, and are available for classes starting in August and other times through April 2009. These assignments can vary from delivering a complete chip design, to lecturing a course, to serving as a lab instructor for Cadence tools, and can span a time period from a few days to months in length.
