SpeedBridge rate adapters and acceleration/emulation memory models

SpeedBridge rate adapters and acceleration/emulation memory models
Verification teams can reduce time-to-emulation for design applications in wireless, multimedia, and networking markets by interfacing Cadence® Incisive® emulators with Cadence SpeedBridge® rate adapters. This combination can interface an in-circuit emulation system to a real-world environment running at realistic speed in the orders of 10s to 100s of MHz. SpeedBridge rate adapters are available as pre-built or customizable products to help customers quickly create complete emulation environments for a variety of needs. Remote support is available to successfully integrate each SpeedBridge product into customers' emulation environments.

SpeedBridge Adapter for Multi-Ethernet
The SpeedBridge Adapter for Multi-Ethernet connects emulated Multi-Ethernet designs to full-speed Ethernet testers or live networks. It currently supports multiple ports: Fast Ethernet (MII), Gigabit Ethernet (GMII), or 10GB Ethernet (XGMII). The SpeedBridge Adapter for Multi-Ethernet supports many standard interfaces such as MII, GMII, XGMII, RMII, RGMII, SMII, and SGMII. It also supports many third-party tester generators while offering a broad range of easy-to-use Ethernet tester features. A Universal SpeedBridge chassis is required to host the SpeedBridge Adapter for Multi-Ethernet.

Universal SpeedBridge chassis
The Universal SpeedBridge chassis hosts up to six SpeedBridge adapters having the correct form factor and provides mechanical stability, cooling, and power distribution for the adapter. The chassis supports a number of SpeedBridge adapters such as Multi-Ethernet, SAS, SATA, or USB.

SpeedBridge Adapter for PCI-X
The SpeedBridge Adapter for PCI-X connects an emulated PCI or PCI-X design to the full-speed PCI or PCI-X bus. The emulated design can support 32/64-bit PCI as well as 32/64-bit PCI-X. The SpeedBridge Adapter for PCI-X complies with PCI 2.3 and PCI-X 1.0. The emulation interface runs in the range of 0-2 MHz while supporting PCI or PCI- X target speeds. The adapter can operate in either PCI or PCI-X mode.

SpeedBridge adapter for PCI Express
The SpeedBridge adapter for PCI Express connects an emulated PCI Express design to a full-speed PCI Express device. The emulated PCI Express design can be verified as an end-point device that interfaces to a PCI Express host platform, or as a root complex device that connects to a PCI Express device. The SpeedBridge adapter for PCI Express enables in-circuit emulation of PCI Express designs with up to 16 lanes. The adapter can operate in either PCI or PCI-X mode and can be used with 33MHz or 66MHz PCI-X systems.

Audio/Video SpeedBridge adapters
Audio/Video SpeedBridge adapters allow designers to source audio/video data such as Center for Communication Interface Research (CCIR), high-definition digital television (HDTV), and common intermediate format (CIF) to an emulated design. It comes with a PC and additional hardware and custom verification acceleration software. Custom audio/video formats are available through Cadence services.

The Video SpeedBridge adapter allows users to capture data, analyze it, and play it back on the PC monitor at full speed. It supports different video formats such as YCrCb, 24-bit RGB, CCIR 656, DTV, and HDTV, and it displays to different image resolutions. The Video SpeedBridge adapter can capture video data in the range of 10 MHz and supports video streams of up to 60GB in length. The Audio SpeedBridge adapter supports audio format I2S with variable sample sizes and frequency, and it plays back audio data on the PC's speakers.

SpeedBridge Adapter for Universal Serial Bus (USB) Devices
The SpeedBridge Adapter for USB Devices connects an emulated USB device to a standard, full-speed PC. It does not require a host on the PC since it has a built-in Enhanced Host Controller Interface (EHCI). The SpeedBridge Adapter for USB Devices supports USB 2.0 protocol with high-speed (HS) transactions. It supports the Universal Transceiver Macro Interface (UTMI) with four different interfaces: 8/16-bit uni- or bi-directional.

SAS (Serial SCSI) SpeedBridge adapter
The SAS SpeedBridge adapter connects an emulated SAS host to full-speed disk drives. The emulated designs are targeted for the SAS host controller cards. With in-circuit emulation, the SAS SpeedBridge adapter verifies the emulated design for system-level testing, such as booting OS or transferring files. The SAS SpeedBridge adapter supports up to two disk arrays, and it complies with SAS v1.1.

SpeedBridge adapter for Serial ATA (SATA)
The SpeedBridge adapter for SATA connects an emulated SATA host to full-speed hard drives. The emulated designs are targeted for SoC designs, consumer products, or network storage. With in-circuit emulation, the SpeedBridge adapter for SATA verifies the emulated design for system-level testing, such as booting OS or transferring files. The SpeedBridge adapter for SATA supports one internal 3.5" or 2.5" disk drive, and it complies with SATA 1.0a.

SpeedBridge adapter for ARM Logic Tiles
The SpeedBridge adapter for ARM Logic Tiles connects an ARM Logic Tile to an emulated ARM-based design. Used in conjunction with ARM's RealView Debugger, the SpeedBridge adapter for ARM Logic Tiles co-verifies the HW/SW of the emulated design with the ARM processor core. This is an ideal environment for enabling early system-level development and software validation of ARM-based designs.

Memory models for emulation/acceleration
Cadence provides a wide range of memory models used for emulation and acceleration. These memory models can be compiled and physically mapped into the emulator or accelerator along with the customer's design. Cadence supplies the most common memory models such as SRAM DDR, SRAM QDR, DDR SDRAM, FCRAM, CellularRAM, SPI Memory, Asynchronous RAM and Flash memory.
